Fullmetal Alchemist
Fullmetal Alchemist
Fullmetal Alchemist Summary:
Synopsis:
Fullmetal Alchemist is an anime based on the manga by Hiromu Arakawa. The anime starts out the same as the manga but it has an original ending due to the manga not being completed. It is considered an adventure/sci-fi anime and can be considered a shonen.
Summary:
The main characters Edward and Alphonse Elric have done something that is considered a taboo in the world of alchemy, trying to revive their dead mother through alchemy, otherwise known as human transmutation. Because of this act, Ed loses an arm and a leg while Al loses his body and his soul is entrapped inside an armor. The two now venture to restore their bodies and will do whatever it takes to get this done. But in order to get more information on Alchemy, Ed and Al must become state alchemist to gain more knowledge on the ultimate artifact known as the Philosopher’s Stone. During their journey they encounter people who help them in the search for the Philosopher’s Stone as well as those who stand in their way of reaching their goal. Creatures known as homunculus (who are made from pieces of the Philosopher’s Stone that have been brought through human transmutation) are one of the main obstacles Ed and Al must face while getting close to the Philosopher Stone. Along the way, they are aided by friends and family for the long journey ahead of them.
Review:
Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the best anime series that has come out in recent years. The characters of Edward and Alphonese and the rest of the crew in Fullmetal are fully developed and no character is left untouched. You fully understand the motives of each character and their involvement in the general plot. Also, unlike many action animes where the action scenes tend to drag on with long battles and tedious dialog, Fullmetal Alchemist gets to the point and that’s what makes each battle and dialog that much important. Of course the series is filled with a lot of humorous moments and the running gag of Edward being short doesn’t get old at all. One particular episode “Night of the Chimera’s Cry” is one of the most heart felt episodes to ever embrace the series and in anime as a whole.
